Over Axle Drifts have two uses:
Fit over an axle to install the second bearing in an over axle hub design.
Press the second bearing in an open bore preloaded design. (Accomplished with the help of a long Pilot)
Two sides to every OA Drift
These OA Drifts have two different pressing sides to them. The flat side presses both bearing rings while the side with the relief will press only the outer bearing ring, which is sometimes what you need for preloaded bearings. Consult your manufacturer’s instructions.
Over Axle Drift Kits
Sold as a single size kit or a kit containing all sizes.
Because manufacturer’s often suggest leveraging against the first bearing to install the second bearing of a BSB design, all sizes of OA Drifts are sold with one OAS Drift (short) and one OAL Drift (long).
Over Axle Drift Sizes
Over Axle Drifts are available in these bearing sizes (ID x OD)
15x24, 15x26, 15x28, 15x30, 15x32, 17x26, 17x28, 17x30, 17x35, 18x30, 20x32, 20x37, 25x37
Sizing Over Axle Drifts
OD of drift = OD of bearing
ID of drift = OD of axle you are installing over.
NOTE: Bearing ID could be 17, but OD of axle you are installing over could be 15.
